What betterway to end the night before takign your child to sleep is to read books and make them fall asleep. Not only that you get to have a moments together but it will at the same time enhance their imagination of the story you read for them. McDonald's believes that family bonding moments are important in every household, and despite the parents' busy schedule, there's always the trusty pasalubong to bring families together at the end of the day!

Book or toy? Starting February 21, McDonald’s will be kickstarting the all-new Happy Meal Readers program that lets people choose between a book or a toy to enjoy with every Happy Meal!

The Agoncillos officially join the McDonald’s family!

Celebrity couple Ryan and Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, together with their daughter Luna Agoncillo, are happy to join the McDonald’s family alongside the official launch of the Happy Meal Readers books in the Philippines.

Making way for families to have more fun bonding moments together, McDonald’s is launching the Happy Meal Readers program that offers a book or toy option for every Happy Meal purchase. The program’s goal is to create more opportunities for memorable experiences shared over storytelling, and this year, families can journey through space and time and dive right in the Treetop Twins Wilderness Adventures through a series of McDonald’s-exclusive Happy Meal Readers books written by world-renowned author Cressida Cowell.

Reading books for a cause

Parents and kids alike would be happy to find out that for every Happy Meal purchase, they are also sharing the love of reading among those who benefit from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philippines, Inc. (RMHC), whose flagship programs support the needs for shelter, education, and happiness of Filipino children.

For every Happy Meal bought, McDonald’s Philippines donates a portion to RMHC and its Ronald McDonald Read to Learn program which teaches beginning reading to grade 1 and grade 2 public school learners. As of now, the Ronald McDonald Read To Learn program has reached over 12 million students, trained over 28 thousand educators, and distributed more than 367 thousand books.

McDonald’s goal through RMHC is to contribute to the vision of improving the literacy skills of Filipino learners early on, and with the Happy Meal Readers’ all-new book option, the brand is thrilled to be able to create more opportunities for children to discover a love for reading.

Each book tells of the adventures of the Treetop Twins and their parents as they travel in their time machine to meet fascinating creatures, including endangered and extinct animals from the past, such as Polar Bears, Quaggas, Pink Dolphins, and Woolly Mammoths! The forum aimed to help parents better understand their role in reshaping the future of their children. Hosted by the Philippines’ premier talk show host, Boy Abunda, the event was joined by well-known parenting experts from the international and local scenes.

Among them were Melissa Benaroya, LICSW, a renowned parent, coach, and speaker from Costa Rica whose extensively studied the Growth Mindset movement. In addition, Melissa aims to be able to share unique strategies on raising children; Didi Manahan, MSEd, a progressive learning advocate and co-founder of Keys School Manila, where she serves as head directress, and Dr. Josephine Sunga, MD, FPPS, MSc, pediatrician and epidemiologist who champions nutrition as a key ingredient towards children’s optimal development through her research.

Parent, coach, and speaker from Costa Rica, Melissa Benaroya, LICSW talked about honing an optimal growth mindset among parents and children during the Reshape Effect Forum on January 15 held at Whitespace Makati.

Ms. Didi Manahan, MSEd, a progressive learning advocate and co-founder of Keys School Manila, gave a lecture on setting the foundations for success to parents and guests at the Reshape Effect Forum.

Pediatrician and epidemologist --- Dr. Josephine Sunga shared ideas on reshaping a child’s future through proper nutrition during the Reshape Effect Forum held in Whitespace Makati last January 15, 2019.

Some of the activities were “Reshaping Your Language”, where participants learned that adults have power over how our language can affect kids. Phrasing statements to curiosity questions can help the kids get a feeling of being included in the decision-making.

Nutrition plays a vital role in the development of a child. Without providing proper action, a child’s diet may greatly affect his or her overall growth. However, despite the potential health risks children may face due to the environment or because of genetics, there are ways parents can prevent these from happening and help ensure their children are not restricted to achieve their full potential for the future.
