How To Keep Your House Clean And Virus-Free During The Holidays

Top 10 Home Appliances that will keep your family healthy this Christmas

Big holiday reunions probably won’t be making a comeback anytime soon, but it’s still important to keep the house clean during this year’s holiday season. You’d be going out on errands, such as going to the bank and grocery shopping, so don’t forget to disinfect your home!

Make sure your family stays healthy with appliances to keep your house clean and virus-free. From November 9-15, Shopee is offering deals up to 59% off on authentic home appliances. Here are four easy ways to stay healthy so you can make the most of the festivities even while staying home.

Improve the air quality in your home. Install exhaust fans to improve ventilation, air purifiers to remove pollutants, and humidifiers to add moisture to the air. Go for air conditioning units with top-notch filtration systems as well.

Keep your clothes germ-free. Wash your clothes using fabric conditioner, but don’t forget to clean your washing machine, too—over time, they can become a hotbed for germs. Using a steamer can kill the remaining bacteria on your clothes as well.

Vacuum like a pro. Always clean rooms from top to bottom. Don’t wait for the vacuum bag to fill up with dirt. Empty it after every use, if possible.

Keep your kitchen clean. Sterilize your utensils before using—they’re what you use to eat, after all! A dishwasher also cleans more efficiently and uses less water.

Lahat kasali, lahat kasalo. Task Force Zero Hunger Chairman, Sec. Karlo Nograles, launches Pilipinas Kontra Gutom – a multi sectoral movement behind Task Force Zero Hunger which aims to eradicate hunger in the country. Joining him in the launch are the founding members from the private sector. Top row (from left): Task Force Zero Hunger Chair Secretary Karlo Nograles, Dole Philippines General Manager Banjo Castillo, Coca-Cola’s Director for Public Affairs and Sustainability Jonah Pernia, Johnson & Johnson Philippines President and Managing Director Raghu Krishnan. Bottom row (from left): McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth Yang, Metrobank Chief Marketing Officer Digs Dimagiba, and San Miguel Foundation Vice Chairman and Board Trustee Cecile Ang.

Following the National Food Policy launch in October, Task Force Zero Hunger sets up a movement to help eradicate hunger in the country. Task Force Zero Hunger Chairman Secretary Karlo Nograles introduces the movement to the media through a virtual launch.

Pilipinas Kontra Gutom is a movement behind Task Force Zero Hunger wherein government agencies together with groups from the different sectors such as academe, non-profit organizations, private corporations, and the general public work hand in hand to address the root of the nation’s concern on involuntary hunger including challenges on food production, food distribution, and accessibility, hidden hunger, and malnutrition, including immediate food needed during times of crises.

Task Force Zero Hunger

Leading the discussion on the virtual press conference is Task Force Zero Hunger Chairman, Sec. Karlo Nograles. Joining him will be representatives from Coca-Cola, Dole, J&J, McDonald’s, Metrobank, and San Miguel Foods Corporation.
“Hunger persists as a complex, multidimensional problem which we face as a nation. This movement calls on all organizations and each and every Filipino to help our fellow Filipinos. Lahat kasali, lahat kasalo. Everyone must be involved and everyone must contribute so everyone will be able to partake of a meal so we can end hunger together. I would like to particularly acknowledge the founding members of the movement from the private sector who have heeded the call and have committed to join our cause.” ~Karlo Nograles, Task Force Zero Hunger Chairman Secretary

Organizations, companies, and groups may help through programs that support farmers and food producers; malnutrition advocacy for kids below 5 years old and below 2 years old as well as pregnant women and lactating mothers; assistance through meal donations during a crisis, among others. These support the roadmap to achieving zero hunger and the key result areas outlined in the National Food Policy.

Task Force Zero Hunger

Addressing the marginalized communities’ immediate need
With the pandemic, hunger incidence has worsened amongst Filipino families. The founding members from the private sector have initially pledged to provide 100,000 meals for identified communities in NCR and key priority areas through Ronald McDonald House Charities’ McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen. In addition to the initial demonstration of commitment to provide food for the affected communities, 3,000 infant kits for children below 2 years old will also be distributed. The founding members of the Pilipinas Kontra Gutom from the private sector include some of the country’s biggest corporations: Coca-Cola, Dole Philippines, Johnson & Johnson Philippines, McDonald’s, Metrobank, and San Miguel Corporation.

“Nutrition for Zero Hunger”, the Initiative to End World Hunger

The global pandemic is fueling food insecurity and according to a recent report from the United Nations, an additional 132 million people are likely to face food insecurity by the end of 2020. Now more than ever, there is an urgent need to provide at-risk populations with access to healthy, nutritious food.

Herbalife Nutrition (NYSE:HLF), a premier global nutrition company, is commemorating the first year of its Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative. Nutrition for Zero Hunger is a global program that is aligned with the second United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal, which seeks to end hunger in all its forms by 2030 and to achieve food security and improved nutrition.

“Herbalife Nutrition’s Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative has been helpful in alleviating hunger, but we have a long way to go in building a world where everyone has access to quality food. Eradicating hunger will take the combined efforts of governments, non-profits, and corporations working together and we will continue working with all interested parties to ensure everyone has access to nutrition.” ~Alan Hoffman, Executive Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs, Herbalife Nutrition
In support of Herbalife Nutrition nonprofit partners’ critical programs and education campaigns, Nutrition for Zero Hunger to date has:
  1. Made available nearly 700,000 nutritious meals to children and families.
  2. Delivered more than 500,000 servings of donated products and 3,500 pounds of food to families in need
  3. Provided 47,000 women with breastfeeding and nutrition education for healthy child development
  4. Provided 40,000 children with essential dietary supplements to reduce nutrient deficiency and support healthy child development

Globally, more than 2 billion people worldwide do not have access to enough, nutritious food. The global population continues to grow, with the need for food expected to increase accordingly. Through the Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative, Herbalife Nutrition is working with partners to provide resources, meals, and education to help feed those in need.

In its first year, the initiative announced partnerships with global nonprofit partners who are recognized for their impact in addressing world hunger, including Feed the Children, The Hunger Project, Chrysalis, National Hispanic Council on Aging, and the Chinese Red Cross Foundation. Through these partnerships, Herbalife Nutrition is working to help take hunger to zero by providing good nutrition and educational resources to communities in need.
