Tired of Trying Skincare Trends That Don’t Work? Read This First

Filipinos are becoming more frugal with their spending as a result of growing expenses, and they are also choosing skincare products that they can rely on to maintain the long-term health of their skin. Nowadays, skincare is increasingly seen as a necessity for individual wellness rather than a cosmetic luxury.

However, consumers encounter conflicting claims, technical scientific jargon, and a steady stream of new ingredients when navigating both physical retail aisles and online platforms.

This year's central theme, "Healthy Skin Deserves No Compromise," served as the focal point of the eighth annual National Healthy Skin Mission at SM Makati, which was organized by skincare company Cetaphil in collaboration with leading retailer Watsons and SM Beauty. Customers now have direct access to clinically tested products designed to meet particular skin needs thanks to this initiative.

“We see firsthand how the skincare landscape is evolving. Today’s shoppers aren't looking for quick fixes or trend-driven routines anymore. As the country's leading destination for health and wellness, we are proud to be the trusted bridge that connects shoppers directly to clinically proven, dermatologist-recommended solutions like Cetaphil.” ~Pat Muyco, Group Senior Category Manager for Watsons

Experts in skincare and the industry shared insightful reminders about understanding our skin, proper skincare, and why sensitive skin deserves the right kind of care, making the event even more inspirational. We also had the opportunity to hear from Anne Curtis, who talked about her personal skincare journey and Cetaphil experience.

“We are committed to helping more Filipinos achieve healthy skin by changing how they choose clinically proven skin care. As a sensitive skin expert and category leader, Cetaphil brings skin science and dermatological expertise through products that consistently work to add more value to consumers’ health and wellness journey.” ~Mark Sarmiento, Business Unit Head for Cetaphil

Don’t compromise your skin health with quick fixes

Making deliberate skincare decisions has become crucial for Cetaphil Brand Ambassador Anne Curtis as her skin adjusts to the rigors of a hectic lifestyle, including long days on set, frequent makeup application, and shifting surroundings.

“There’s so much going on online, so it’s important to know that the brand you’re using is something you can trust because it is certified by experts. Don’t compromise your skin health with quick fixes or following trends. You deserve to take care of your own skin, but it’s also important to educate yourself about what’s available.” ~Anne Curtis, Cetaphil Brand Ambassador

Dr. Chesca Quinio-Calayag also adds that having healthy skin isn't about doing the longest routine or chasing every new ingredient that comes out.

“It’s more about choosing products that are proven to work, gentle enough to protect your skin barrier, and effective enough that you don't have to keep replacing products that disappoint you.” ~Dr. Chesca Quinio-Calayag

Meanwhile, Dr. Sella Umali-Adasa reminded consumers to stop consuming products that leave adverse reactions.

“Healthy skin shouldn't come at the expense of irritation. If your skincare constantly leaves your skin feeling tight, stinging, or uncomfortable, that's not something you should simply accept as normal.” ~Dr. Sella Umali-Adasa

The mission also emphasizes the importance of understanding that healthy skin is not always perfect. According to Abe Mationg, Head of Marketing for Cetaphil, consumers should feel empowered to make choices based on their skin’s needs.

“It’s mainly about making informed choices and listening to experts. All of us are different, so our skin isn’t perfect all the time. Sometimes you wake up feeling differently about your skin. But what’s important is to be gentle with yourself and have the right skincare for your skin type.” ~Abe Mationg, Head of Marketing for Cetaphil

Open to the public until August 31, the National Healthy Skin Mission at SM Makati provides science-led skincare advice, interactive installations, and dermatologist consultations.

Out and About with Cetaphil Sun: #GotYouCovered While You Touch Grass

More Filipinos are beginning to experience the effects of digital weariness in a society where being online all the time is the norm. Many people feel overstimulated but disengaged as a result of long screen use, hectic schedules, and restricted access to quiet areas.

The Cetaphil Sun Crawl, Out and About with Cetaphil Sun: Expert Sun Protection #GotYouCovered, was a carefully planned day of outdoor activities intended to promote presence, movement, and meaningful connection—all while staying safe from the sun—in response to this growing need to disconnect and reconnect.

The Cetaphil Sun Crawl reimagines common outdoor moments as chances to rejuvenate without worrying about sun damage. It is based on the growing "touch grass" mentality. Because you shouldn't be afraid to go outside, especially when your skin is backed by professional #GotYouCovered protection.

A Morning in Motion

A quick morning run set the stage for an exhilarating start to the day outside. The guests, which included fitness celebrities, outdoor enthusiasts, and producers of lifestyle content, were led by fitness instructor Cass Salandan through an approachable yet energizing routine that was intended to ease them into activity.

A full-body warm-up, a 20-minute LIIT (Low Intensity Interval Training) exercise, and a squat-and-shuttle finisher were all included in the program. In order to return participants to a rested state, it ended with a special cool-down. Participants were inspired to reestablish a connection with their bodies by moving intentionally rather than intensely.

Wellness, Slowed Down

Guests entered a Wellness Wind Down at Washington Sycip Park, where the pace slowed and the emphasis switched inward from activity to awareness.

Carina Silverio, a yoga coach and mindfulness instructor, led the program, which started with a gentle arrival and grounding exercise to let attendees get comfortable. Guided movement and breath work, which are easy-to-do exercises meant to relieve stress and restore awareness to the body, came next.

After that, participants took part in an outdoor connection exercise that promoted presence and introspection within the group and the surroundings. Quiet repose and integration marked the end of the event, providing a space for calm that is frequently lacking in daily activities.

Expert Conversations

An intimate meal that brought everyone together for thought-provoking discussions about contemporary wellness and skin health marked the end of the day.

Dr. Gaile Robredo-Vitas, a dermatologist, emphasized the increasing necessity of balance in the hyperconnected world of today. Even basic outdoor activities, such as going for walks, eating outside, or hanging out with friends, can greatly enhance general wellness as people look for more deliberate offline moments.

However, even brief outside experiences have cumulative impacts on the skin in a nation like the Philippines where UV exposure is a daily occurrence. Sensitivity, dehydration, early aging, and long-term harm can result from prolonged exposure.

Effective sun care today, according to Dr. Robredo-Vitas, goes beyond protection. Additionally, it needs to bolster the skin barrier and promote hydration, particularly for people who must deal with metropolitan stressors, heat, and pollution. In order to reduce discomfort and provide comfort for everyday use, gentle, well-formulated solutions are essential.

In the end, skin protection should feel liberating rather than restrictive. People may confidently spend more time outdoors and completely engage in real-world experiences thanks to contemporary, scientifically supported formulas that are lightweight and ideal for sensitive skin.

#GotYouCovered Wherever You Go

The Cetaphil Sun Crawl serves as a reminder that "touching grass" doesn't have to mean straying from the norm; rather, it's about achieving balance in tiny, daily ways. These deliberate practices, such as going for a run in the morning, spending some peaceful time in the park, or just going outside, help interrupt the cycle of digital tiredness.

With Cetaphil Sun, spending time outside becomes uncomplicated, worry-free, and liberating. You can stay longer, connect more deeply, and truly experience life outside the screen when your skin is taken care of.

Cetaphil Sun is available at all leading retailers like Watsons and Mercury Drugstore, and in all leading e-commerce such as ShopeeLazada and TikTok Shop.

Cetaphil Brings Expert Skin Guidance Closer to Filipinos with Derm On Tour

Cetaphil has formally launched Cetaphil SkinLabs: Derm On Tour, a nationwide program aimed at bringing professional skin counsel directly to Filipino communities, in support of its commitment to make dermatologist-backed skincare more accessible.

Derm On Tour is the next phase in Cetaphil's dedication to converting dermatological knowledge into useful, everyday skincare information for Filipinos, building on the success of the brand's immersive, science-led platform, Cetaphil SkinLabs in 2025.

In addition to Cetaphil Baby ambassadors Nico Bolzico, Andi Manzano, Jess Wilson, and Laura Lehmann, the launch event featured some of the most prominent figures in the nation, including Anne Curtis, Catriona Gray, Donny Pangilinan, Hannah Pangilinan, Atasha Muhlach, Kaila Estrada, and Cassy Legaspi.

These individuals, along with dermatologists and pediatric specialists, helped raise awareness of the value of skincare products supported by science and professional advice, particularly for Filipinos with sensitive skin.

The launch was more than simply a marketing event; it was the beginning of a larger campaign aimed at empowering regular Filipinos to better understand their skin and bringing dermatological education closer to them.

“Sensitive skin is more common than many people think, yet access to expert skincare guidance isn’t always easy. Derm On Tour is our way of bringing dermatological expertise closer to Filipino communities—so people can better understand their skin and make informed decisions about skincare.” ~Mark Joseph Sarmiento, Cetaphil Business Unit Head

Science-Backed Skincare for Every Skin Story

Board-certified dermatologists and pediatric specialists led conversations on appropriate skincare practices and helped explain the science behind sensitive skin during the whole event. Their attendance reaffirmed Cetaphil's longstanding reputation as a brand that dermatologists throughout the world trust and recommend.

Additionally, visitors were encouraged to stop by the Derm On Tour booths, where they could explore interactive skincare stations and take advantage of complimentary dermatological consultations. This gave participants the chance to learn more about their own skin issues and get professional advice directly from professionals.

Dermatologists emphasized how modern lifestyle factors—such as stress, blue light exposure, pollution, and sleep deprivation—can have a substantial negative influence on skin health, especially for people with sensitive skin.

Cetaphil's philosophy of providing clinically validated skincare treatments that are both effective and gentle enough for sensitive skin is still based on this science-first approach.

The newest Advanced Defence AM Serum and restoration & Renew PM Serum, which are intended to cooperate to protect the skin from everyday environmental stressors while promoting nightly restoration, were among the novelties displayed during the occasion.

Celebrities Share Their Personal Skin Journeys

The presence of Cetaphil's ambassadors, who talked about their own skincare experiences and how knowing their skin has influenced their routines, added to the excitement of the event.

Finding skincare products that consistently function despite a hectic schedule is important to actress and lifelong Cetaphil supporter Anne Curtis.

“Life can get busy with work and family, so I appreciate skincare that’s effective but uncomplicated. Cetaphil has always been about gentle care that works, and that’s something I truly value.” ~Anne Curtis, Cetaphil Advocate

Meanwhile, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray spoke about the importance of protecting the skin from everyday stressors.

“When you’re constantly on the go, your skin goes through a lot. Learning from my derma about how to defend and repair the skin barrier really changed how I approach my skincare routine.” ~Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018

Donny Pangilinan, Hannah Pangilinan, and Atasha Muhlach were among the younger ambassadors that urged young Filipinos to look past internet skincare fads and seek professional guidance when it comes to skin care.

Meanwhile, Cetaphil Baby Ambassadors Nico Bolzico, Jess Wilson, Andi Manzano, and Laura Lehmann shared their own parenting experiences and the learning curve that comes with caring for delicate baby skin.

“Once you realize how delicate baby skin really is, you become much more mindful about the products you use. Having access to expert advice really helps you make better decisions for your child.” ~Andi Manzano, Cetaphil Baby Ambassador

Cassy Legaspi and Kaila Estrada, who recently joined the Cetaphil family as ambassadors, wish to encourage others to pay attention to their skin and choose mild, scientifically proven treatments.

When considered collectively, these perspectives underscore Cetaphil's belief that each person has a distinct skin story and ought to have access to expert skincare guidance. This is a continuation of Cetaphil's broader initiative under the hashtag #ForEveryonesSensitiveSkin, which supports the company's objective of providing accessible, inclusive, and research-based sensitive skincare.
