AirAsia Philippines reiterates no Vaping/Smoking Policy Onboard

A surrendered vape handed over to the Airport Police Department after the violator was caught vaping onboard.


Since recent incidences where passengers were found breaking the regulation, AirAsia Philippines has strongly reminded all of its guests that smoking and vaping are completely prohibited on all of its flights.

Despite the airline's proactive efforts to issue a number of placarded advisories and public announcements, the airline's Security Department documented 10 instances between January and August 2025 where passengers were caught vaping in flight, either in their seats or in restrooms that set off smoke detectors.

As stated in AirAsia Philippines' official airline policy, such actions are absolutely prohibited and in violation of Republic Acts No. 9211 (Tobacco Regulation Act) and No. 11900 (Vape Regulation Act), which both prohibit vaping in public transportation, including airplanes.

In addition to possible charges under the Civil Aviation Authority Act (RA 9497) if safety is compromised, guests who are caught vaping face administrative sanctions from the airline, which could include a lifetime ban from all AirAsia Philippines flights, and immediate referral to airport police upon arrival at the destination, along with blotter entry and a fine of up to ₱5,000, depending on the offense.

From the boarding gate to the aircraft cabin, AirAsia has a clear and uniform no-smoking policy in place to stop such events.  During the trip, boarding tickets, pre-flight announcements, and LED signage all prominently convey clear reminders.

Toilets are furnished with smoke detectors that cannot be tampered with, and cabin staff keep a close eye on passenger behavior to ensure prompt action when needed.

Following the conclusion of its Annual Stockholders' Meeting, PCPPI reiterated its transformation plan, which is based on responsible business practices, innovation, and agility.  In 2025, the Sto. Tomas plant is preparing for the next stage of life.  A major facilitator of this trip is the Tomas plant.

The Sto. Tomas plant goes beyond superior production quality.  Through employment creation, business support, and community engagement, Tomas Plant actively supports regional development. Currently, more than 600 people from Batangas and the neighboring areas work at the factory.
